We are a family of 5 currently living in the Pacific Northwest, but previously from Texas and California. We have three daughters (but no my husband doesn't own a shotgun) and family spread out all around the world (my parents are in Egypt, his in California). I blog to keep my family up to date on our happenings and to document our kids lives... I'm hoping that one day they will appreciate this online journal of their childhood :)

I am also a photographer in Seattle-Tacoma, Washington. You can find me over at kipperphotography.com. Thanks for stopping by!

It's amazing what a little sleep

will do for my mental state. I took a nap with S & A today (Addie never naps, so this was glorious) and now I feel like I could climb Mt. Everest or maybe just clean the house. ha :)

Better yet, I'll do a mindless survey while I feed the bebe (typing one handed, sorry in advance).

Thanks Mandy @ harpershappenings.com for this flashback to 2004 :D

With that said, I thought an old Myspace pic would be appropriate for this post. This was me and P, when it was just the two of us. :)

First up, 10 randoms about me.

1. I dated a guy in high school that came out of the closet after we broke up. He was the sweetest guy ever, but I should have been clued in by the fact that he loved shopping and was prettier than me, lol

2.  I bought my wedding dress sight unseen, never even tried it on... and it was double my budget! ack!

3. I hate when my feet are wet. Going barefoot at a water park is pretty much torture for me.

4. When we moved to Washington, I plugged in my overly specific house criteria and searched the entire
Seattle-Tacoma metro area.  It had to be under budget, have 3+ bedrooms, 2+ bathrooms, have a separate office away from the house,  view of the water, in a good area with good schools, and couldn't be built after 1940 (we wanted something old). There was only one house that popped up on the map. We put in an offer the same day and closed 6 weeks later!

5. I'm convinced I'm reincarnated (you can thank Oprah for that one, lol). I think I died in the ocean in my former life, which explains my fear of deep water and large objects in deep water (boats, barges, bridges, and even docks give me the creeps). Yes, I'm a little cray cray.

6.  I was embarrassed of getting boobs, so I taped them down my entire 6th grade year. Poor things never recovered from that, lol

7. I have a slight obsession with all things murder mystery. 20/20, Dateline, Criminal Minds, Cold Case Files, CSI. If they're on, I'll watch them.

8. When we were kids, my older sis and I used to put underwear on our heads and call each other Hans & Chanz.

9. We had giant lizards crawl on our walls in Indonesia. I am pretty sure we had some snakes sneak in the house too. My mom can correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a vague memory of her freaking out over a snake in our kitchen.

10. My parents drove over the Lake Pontchartrain bridge to get to the hospital the day I was born (longest bridge over water in the world).

And now on to the survey questions! :)

1. have you ever met someone famous?
The monkey lady, what's her name? Jane Goodall. Yeah I think that's it. LOL.

Wait, I just remembered that I went to TRL (remember that show?) and met Justin Timberlake and Mandy Moore. I met Dr. Phil too, backstage at his show. He counts as famous, right?

2. what is your happiest childhood memory?
My childhood was so happy and so amazing, it's hard to narrow it down to one memory. But, every summer we'd fly back to the US and visit my grandparents in Ogden Dunes, Indiana. My memories of those days on the beach at Lake Michigan are some of my happiest. We'd make a bonfire, play with my cousins and just enjoy family. I miss my grandparents, who have since passed away (all except my moms mom, who moved to Florida). My dad's parents had an old blue house on a hill, I remember digging through the buckets of treasures that they had collected on the beach. Rings, coins, radios, necklaces, money. You name it, they found it. We would catch fireflies in their backyard and play with their player piano, pretending to be great pianists. My grandma was the person who got me hooked on frozen oreos :) Those were the best summers. :)

3. favorite album of all time?
David Gray's Greatest Hits or The Damnwells anything

4. are you a salty or sweet lover?
cheese lover, so I'd say salty

5. what is favorite guilty pleasure tv show or movie?
The Bachelor. I say I'll never watch it, then I do.

6. describe your favorite sandwich.
Jalapeno bread, turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, salt, pepper, green peppers, onions, banana peppers, avacado and a little spicy ranch

7. what was your first pet?
An Airedale terrier named Casey. Born on my bday.

8. what is your biggest accomplishment thus far in life?
Definitely surviving teen-motherhood as a whole... graduating college while working and raising Portia on my own till she was 3... until Mike came along and saved us :)

9. what is the first blog you started reading?
hmm the Spohrs Are Multiplying and Matt Logelin's blog.

10. if you had to choose one dessert for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Frozen oreos fo sho. I still need to make oreos baked in chocolate chip cookies. OMG that sounds amazing.

  1. I crossed the Lake Pontchartrain almost everyday to go to high school! I grew up in Folsom and then when I married I moved to Metairie. Now I live near Kentwood. I never realized you lived in that area. I'm guessing you only lived in the area when you were young.

  7. The snake was in the living room! it was Christmas and I thought it was a piece of ribbon, until it moved! I screamed and went to get your dad who was asleep. he had just returned from a long flight and was a bit grumpy. He yelled to our night guard who promptly grabbed the snake and then hacked it to death outside of our door. Oh we used to eat our lunch in front of a small courtyard, and the rats would come up to the window during lunch-nice! (This was Indonesia 1985-1989.

  8. Did you live in Jakarta?? I used to live there too, from 1990-93, and I went to JIS... You've always looked vaguely familiar even though I randomly hooked up to your blog...

  9. robin - yes, I lived in Jakarta from 85-89. We must have just missed each other, though I was pretty young at the time. Are you from an oil family? We ended up knowing people in every country we moved to, seems that everyone moved to the same places. We went to Stavanger and Melbourne after Jakarta... and of course Texas :)
