I'm sorry that it's been a week since I blogged, but I've been feeling really blah lately. I hate blaming the weather, but dude it's the weather. We've been here two years and three months and I'm still not used to it. I don't like it. At all. And saying that I pretty much hate this state makes me feel ungrateful and a bit like a traitor. Because, she's been good to us. Nice home, nice friends, nice job, nice scenery, nice city. There are a lot of good things about this state, but for the most part we don't really take advantage of all the good stuff, because we are too busy raising kids. And kids like to be outside, except that it's miserable outside, so we rarely go outside, especially now that we have a baby. Just in the last two weeks it has gotten to the point where I honestly don't want to talk to people. I don't like to come across unfriendly, but lately, I am just feeling so...blah...
The sucky thing is the rest of the country starts to warm up in March/April, but we pretty much stay at this constant temp (40-50)for about 9-10 months. I think it sucks. There I said it. I really think it sucks.
With that said. We went to Portland/Vancouver last week to see my sis and brother-in-law in their new house. I was bored during the drive and took like 9 million cell phone shots (normally I'd get online, but we got rid of internet on my phone, in an effort to save money, because we are trying to Dave Ramsey our life, aka. no debt other than the house... we are pretty darn close).
So here are some cell pics (we weren't driving in the people shots).

This was Scarlett's first time in a restaurant and her first trip to Ikea!

and Scarlett's first time in a hotel (though if you notice, this is two different hotel rooms, funny story there... or not so funny, depends on who is telling it (cough cough Mike forgot to book a room, so the hotel put us in a conference room, with a pullout couch, no bed... needless to say, we left, sigh))

Before we left Addie scraped her face pretty badly at preschool. She took the distorted self portrait (the cell phone camera kept her entertained for half an hour) and exclaimed after seeing the pic "I yuv my boo boo!" lol

Here are a few pics taken w/ my real camera:

We came back late Thursday night and I found my new fisheye lens sitting on our porch (couldn't resist taking a few shots of the girls in the playroom):

She is obsessed with this swing. I got it on Craigslist before Addie was born. Love that it has lasted through two kids!

My sweet smiley girl. I had just gotten home from a newborn session and she was happy to see me :)

Staring up at big sis. I have a feeling she is going to idolize her.

Bad weather puts me in a funk too. I love the last pic of Scarlett, with her perfectly round face staring up at her sister. Precious!
ReplyDeleteWinter is the worst. I think those feelings are completely normal for a lot of people. I'm from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and we have 6+ months of winter and I can tell you that a lot of people suffer from seasonal depression there. Maybe you're in for an unseasonably warm summer, hopefully :).

ReplyDeleteYou need to do a post on how the Dave Ramsey thing is going. Seems like everyone we know is doing it. Our only debt is our mortgage, but I feel like there are still things to learn :)
ReplyDeleteSorry the weather is not treating you well. I can't believe Kate moved :( how dare her to do such a thing! Ha!
ReplyDeleteAs a lifelong NW'r I'll tell you now that you'll get used to it. Maybe :)
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for admiting it! I live in Idaho...the weather really is not bad, but when we do get into a funk I turn into crazy lady! I hate the cold and wet season!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS. ugh. i love your family! you are looking good, mama :) and scarlett is just beautiful... hope addie is feeling better from her boo boo!
ReplyDeleteI am glad she likes the swing now! remember Norway? We had moved with four kids. Laura was only 1 1/2 and Ben was 3. Everyday I helped the teo little ones put on layers of clothes and then rain boots and coats. We went out in all weather. There is a Norwegian sayin, "there are no bad weather days, just poorly dressed people"! It rained or snowed at least nine to ten months of the year. We then had a month of sunny days in the mid 60's, and it started all over again. It was tough, we made it for three years!
