We are a family of 5 currently living in the Pacific Northwest, but previously from Texas and California. We have three daughters (but no my husband doesn't own a shotgun) and family spread out all around the world (my parents are in Egypt, his in California). I blog to keep my family up to date on our happenings and to document our kids lives... I'm hoping that one day they will appreciate this online journal of their childhood :)

I am also a photographer in Seattle-Tacoma, Washington. You can find me over at kipperphotography.com. Thanks for stopping by!

Addie Walks & Easter Flops

First of all. Hi everyone! I feel like I am not blogging much about personal stuff lately. I also have not commented on many blogs in about a week. I apologize. I have taken a little internet siesta (aside from my review yesterday). We have a lot going on right now. We are going on our anniversary trip next week. Woohoo!! 6 days of care free, silly, relaxing fun!! Not to mention, unlimited drinks. Yahoo! I rented a fancy new lens for the trip (because buying it would have set me back a good $700 bucks). I am envisioning margaritas, quesadillas, fajitas, Mike, me, my camera and the beach. Ahhhhh... perfection. We also have a lot of house stuff in the works. We bought the house knowing a few things: it needs new electricity and it needs to be insulated. Our house is cold. Brrr. We also have to finish decorating. Our house needs some loving. She needs to be cared for. LOL.

I need a name for our house. Millie? Penny? Molly? Bessie?

Yeah... so anyway... LOL

The big news of the week... ADDIE WALKED!!

Mike and I were laying on the floor of her room yesterday. She was holding onto the side of the bunk bed, then she let go, took two steps without holding onto anything and then grabbed onto her chair.

It happened so fast that we could hardly believe it. We kept trying to get her to do it again, but she wasn't having it. I guess she is a stubborn little lady. :)

What else. Oh yeah, Easter. We had a great Easter. It was a bit of a flop, due to the weather, but other than that Portia was happy and Addie cooperated, so that's all that really matters!

Here's a quick summary:

1.) Saw the Easter Bunny - Nope, never got around to it
2.) Dyed Easter eggs - Yep!
3.) Easter carnival - showed up, but it was cancelled (I think due to rain). Such a bummer for Pea!!
4.) Threw an awesome egg hunt in our own yard, then another one inside while it rained - Check!
5.) Set up "studio" Easter Photos - Nope. Just never happened. Bad light. Bad weather. Blah!
6.) Found bunny ears - Nope, searched everywhere!
7.) Stuffed ourselves with food and candy - Check!
8.) Went to church (arrived on time!) - Check!
9.)  Went to a movie w/ Pea (our Easter tradition) - Check!
10.) Painted 10 gazillion pictures - Check!
11.) Got Addie a basket - Nope. Major mommy fail, I mean Easter bunny FAIL!

Here's what I got for Portia's Easter photos. Notice the rip in her tights? I decided to leave that in. Totally her personality showing through (the rip wasn't there when she got dressed that morning).

This is the best photo I could get of Adelaide. This was at 7pm, basically no light left outside, grumpy kid. I just wanted one picture of her new little pettiskirt.

She was NOT having it!!

I ordered two pettiskirts on ebay from this person: http://stores.ebay.com/princessdressup. Really fast shipping. I am impressed w/ the quality as well.

I wanted to show this other photoshoot fail. I tried to take Easter pics two weekends ago. I decided to call it a day when this was as good as it got:

Here are a few more pics that I have been meaning to share:

This boat goes by our house everyday, sometimes three or four times. I call her "Gertie". LOL. Mike says I am a weirdo. I just love "her"...

This is the Olympic Mountain range. Twilight fans, the city of Forks is just over that mountain range! ;)

This is a flower in our yard:. We have so many flowers popping up right now. I guess that's one good thing about rain...

Some beautiful tulips. I think I am actually going to the Tulip festival this weekend. It was too rainy last weekend. Hopefully the weather clears up a bit.

  1. I love the tulips and boat pics. You are such a great photog. I know what you mean about not blogging lately. I just am getting back into. I spent 4 days writing about latest post about PPD and it took a lot of my time.

    Hope you enjoy your vacation!

  3. your blog always makes me LOL. I too like to name things, and I think Penny would be a good name for your house. Your pictures are beautiful and if you didn't live a few hours away I would love it if you could take pictures of my son (due in June)! I don't even know if you are taking pictures for other people, but you SHOULD and I would choose you in a heart beat because you do such a wonderful job!
